Contests and Awards

A new contest has just come our way with a deadline of December 31, 2017.

V8 Righteous Recipe Contest

V8® 100% Vegetable Juice consists of a blend of eight vegetable juices; contains no artificial preservatives or added sugar; and has vegetarian, vegan and kosher options.

WHY: Operators have an opportunity to show off their talents while showcasing how versatile V8® is with their original submission. Participants will be eligible to receive a $50 Amazon gift card and could also be featured on the Campbell’s Foodservice website. At the end of the contest period, one entry will be selected for inclusion in Campbell’s recipe library.

WHEN: The contest runs now through 11:59 p.m. ET on Dec. 31.

WHERE: More information about the Righteous Recipe Challenge is available here and in the terms and conditions.

WHO: Campbell’s Foodservice supports culinary professionals by providing more than 500 products from trusted brands including Campbell’s®, V8®, Pepperidge Farm®, Prego®, Pace®, Swanson® and more. Chefs use V8® 100% Vegetable Juice in back-of-house applications to make more flavorful cocktails, entrées, soups, sauces and desserts.

Did you receive your mail this week with Two Great Offers?

Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board and CAFE teamed up for a mailing which highlights two great offers:

  1. CAFE Membership and its benefits
  2. A contest that WMMB is running which drives your students to study and learn from their great online curriculum. There are cash prizes for instructors who have the most completers!

Other Great Opportunities

Every update we send you lists the Award programs and links that CAFE is proud to be offering through partnerships with education and industry. But what are they?

The Brightwater Award for sustainability and “green” efforts recognizes those programs that promote and incorporate sustainability efforts as part of their curriculum and operations.

(new) The Brightwater Award for Food Entrepreneurship is a terrific recognition for programs who have expanded their offerings and outreach and Identifies culinary programs that either 1) teach or encourage entrepreneurship in their programming or 2) implement revenue-generation and cost-savings into their operations.

Idaho Potato Commission’s Innovations Awards recognizes programs that have discovered innovative ways to link their classrooms with industry; i.e., work experiences, relationships with industry, or other outreach efforts to bring real-life experiences to their students and classrooms.

Sysco Educator of the Year program is proud to recognize both secondary and postsecondary instructors who have gone above and beyond their job descriptions and are leaders in the field of culinary/baking/pastry/hospitality education.

I urge you to look at our website for details about what you need to provide as an application packet for these awards. Each year we are proud to recognize the leaders in our profession who have chosen to excel in education and industry training.

Deadline for the Award programs is April 1, 2018. Recognition will be at the annual CAFE Leadership Conference, June 14th in Milwaukee.

Deans and Directors Retreat

Be sure to get your hotel registration in for the Deans and Directors Retreat which will be March 2-4, 2018 in San Antonio. The hotel deadline is January 28, 2018.

The program will provide inspiration as well as information on innovations on what’s happening in our industry as well as in our postsecondary programs nationwide.

The Retreat is designed to be of use to those of you in leadership positions which we refer to as the Hourglass: you report to a field of administrators as well as to your faculty and your students. We hope to help you navigate your challenges not only by exchanging information (and contacts) but also by inspiring you to continue with your educational passion.
