The Denver campus of Johnson & Wales University (JWU) is pleased to announce that Kerstin Kleber has been appointed chair of the International Baking and Pastry Institute located in the College of Culinary Arts.Kleber studied at The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, N.Y., Ecole Gastronomique Bellouet Conseil in Paris, France, and Ecole Le Notre in Plassier, France, and was a pastry instructor at JWU’s Charleston, S.C., campus from 2001 to 2004. Having worked at well-known restaurants in New York, Charleston and Munich, Germany, for almost 20 years, Kleber has the real-world experience to help prepare students for their careers.
She has been a James Beard House invited chef, selected as one of Restaurant Hospitality magazine’s “20 Rising Stars of 2000” and featured on the Martha Stewart Living TV program. John Mariani of Esquire magazine wrote, “If there is a better pastry chef in the South than Kerstin Kleber, I haven’t met her.”
